School Priorities

Our school priorities very much focus around our vision, with our targets linking back to supporting all children to grow academically as well socially and emotionally. This allows them to  ‘…flourish as a unique and whole child of God’

School Priorities 2025-2026

Leadership & Management

  • Extend opportunities for leaders and staff to further develop their professional expertise in Church School education. This is so that they can use their skills to enhance the school’s impact even more deeply.       (SIAMS 2025)
  • To continue to develop and support new members / leadership roles within the governing body.
  • To further enhance the impact of middle leaders within the school through providing bespoke CPD opportunities alongside greater accountability.
  • Continue to promote partnership working (within the Federation) to support St. James and FWSG in all areas such as: Financial, Professional Learning, Peer to peer support and quality of teaching and learning.
  • To strategically plan for future growth and sustainability as a school and federation.

Behaviour & Attitudes

  • Continue to monitor and develop our safeguarding provision, procedure and practice across the school.
  • To effectively use our tracking system (Arbor) to identify trends and patterns in behaviour so that leaders are effective in monitoring, which means that they are proactive in finding solutions.
  • To embed the new expectations nationally for attendance, with a focus on holidays taken during term time.
  • To promote class teacher responsibility and accountability regarding low level behaviour concerns (as per policy)
  • To continue to support teachers in how to adapt behaviour management strategies to meet individual needs (SEND) based on evidence and pedagogy.
  • To investigate the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to support both staff and pupils within the school community.

Quality of Education (Intent, Implementation & Impact)

  • To develop further strategies to support pupil retention and transition from short term to long term memory. (In some subjects, pupils’ knowledge and skills are not as secure as they should be. This is because some improvements to these subject curriculums are more recent. As a result, pupils have had less opportunity to secure some aspects of their learning. The school should ensure that these curriculums are embedded and support pupils to develop a strong body of knowledge so that pupils remember and know more over time. (OFSTED 2025)
  • To support teachers' understanding of progression of skills and knowledge (within the curriculum) knowing where the pupils are coming from and where they are going.’
  • To have a whole school focus on developing writing from transcription to composition.
  • To develop and implement robust baseline assessment processes and establish a structured induction programme for new EAL learners.

Personal Development

  • Continue to live out the vision and values within the school to impact on all areas of school life.
  • Further build on the themes of  justice and responsibility and grow an awareness of the wider world evidencing through achieving the Global Neighbours accreditation.
  • Develop new procedures and practices linking to the expectations and organisation of school trips.
  • Implement the new Climate action plan and build on our goal as a fully sustainable school

Early Years Development

  • To increase the percentage of pupils achieving GLD (Good Level of Development)
  • To have a continued focus on providing early intervention for pupils with SEND (particularly regarding    SEMH needs) to ensure they make the best possible progress from their starting points.
  • To facilitate the effective opening of a school-based nursery provision within the early years.
  • To provide a range of professional development opportunities to support the new Reception team.
