Our school community is inspired by the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13) where we are encouraged to think about and understand that the smallest things have the greatest potential when they are provided with the best environment for growth. This is exactly what we all strive for at St James’; a learning environment where all our children can flourish and grow in their own unique way.

Welcome to KS2, this is often known as the juniors and consists on Year 3,4,5 and 6. My name is Mrs Everard, and I am the deputy headteacher and key stage lead for the school. Moving upstairs is a big jump and the curriculum does include many challenges along the way and I know that the teachers and TA’s will support, challenge and allow your child to grow and develop, becoming independent confident learners ready for the challenges that life beyond school brings.

We pride ourselves at St James’ at always putting the children at the centre of what we do and we value the children’s voice in their learning and also as school councillors sharing opinions to make our school a happy and safe place in which to learn. This is an area that is encouraged as it helps your child achieve and become successful learners. Our curriculum allows our children to learn about the wider world, their community and their place within it, ensuring that they become positive members of our school community.

Reading is at the heart of all learning and we encourage you to ensure that your child reads daily and that their diary is completed and handed in as this will allow your child to become a ‘reader for life’ I adore reading and I hope that during their journey with us they too will develop the love of books and texts.

I am committed to ensuring that your child has a happy and enjoyable learning journey at St James’ with a variety of opportunities to succeed not only academically but also within other areas such as sport, drama, art etc

Please work with me and your child’s class teachers as this will help your child be successful, it is a privilege to be a teacher and to do a job that I love and I can assure you that I am fully committed and so are my KS2 staff and I look forward to working with you.

Best Wishes

Mrs Everard
