ADMISSIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2025

Admissions for September 2025 for a Reception place is now open : If your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, you will need to apply for a primary school place by 15 January 2025. Your child will start reception class in September 2025.

For guidance or queries, please click on the ‘step by step guide to completing an online application’ below.  As well as applying to Enfield, please also complete a school application form. Please return your application to the office with proof of your child’s birth date (such as their birth certificate or passport) and proof of your current address (such as a bank statement or utility bill which must be no less than 3 months old). Thank you

Open Days 

We have 2 open days in which we encourage prospective Reception parents to visit the school.

These are on the following days.:

Monday 16th October: 9:30 - 10:30am

Tuesday 21st November: 11.30am- 12.00pm

ADMISSIONS FOR A NURSERY PLACE ARE OPEN

From September 2025, the school is opening a school-based nursery.  For all admissions enquiries please contact the school office on: 02088041987 

As we will be a new nursery from September 2025, we are not listed but please be assured that applications can be accepted.

In-Year Admissions

The school currently has vacancies - please contact the office for more information 

If you are considering  transferring your child to St. James' you need to contact the School and the Local Authority.  It is important that the Local Authority is aware you would like a place at St James' as they help us to allocate our places.  

With regards to any new applications, places are allocated according to our admissions criteria.  Please access all the relevant documents below.  Alternatively, we hold copies in school which can be obtained from the School Office.

In -year admissions are dealt with by 31st August at the latest each year.

31st October (Midnight) National closing date for applications - MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE 
3rd March after 7pm  An email is sent to parents to say what school has been allocated in the evening.
April onwards Appeals take place

Appeals for St James' CE Primary School 

How do I make an appeal for a place at this School?

If you wish to appeal against an admissions decision, there is a formal process and timetable:

Wednesday April 16th 2025 - Primary National Offer Day (Reception)

Friday May 16th 2025 - Deadline for lodging an appeal

June/July 2025 - Appeal hearings (Appeals will be heard as soon as practicably possible)

If you wish to appeal, this needs to be submitted in writing.

Please note:

Appeals for Reception will be subject to Infant Class Size legislation. This special legislation limits the grounds on which appeals can be successful if the addition of your child would mean exceeding the infant class size limit of 30. There are a limited number of exceptions to this rule.

How much notice of the appeal hearing date will I have?

Letters notifying parents of appeal dates and times are sent out in line with statutory guidance. These letters will be sent out at least 14 days in advance of the hearing (unless you have agreed to a shorter period than this).

Can I submit additional evidence?

If you wish to submit further supporting evidence relating to your appeal this needs to be submitted at least 7 days in advance of your hearing. (This in order that there is enough time for the information to be circulated) However, information received after this deadline will not be circulated and may not be accepted by the panel.

When will I be notified of the outcome?

Following an appeal, decision letters are sent out within 5 schooldays of the hearing, whenever possible.
